Happy New Year! I have to admit while everyone was excited for the new year and fresh start, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the new year. Last year this time I had just finished Jamie Eason’s LiveFit Trainer and was excited to see what the year would bring. I had developed a new passion and was ready to start my journey. I was on fire and motivated. Finally this is what I felt I was made to do. I am still in shock about all the things I was able to accomplish. Here are some highlights:
- Attended the Arnold Classic and met Jamie Eason, Tosca Reno and Amanda Adams
- Competed in my first Fitness Competition and placed 2nd
- Was voted best abs in Charleston
- My success story was featured in Oxygen Magazine
- I started my non profit Generation Healthy Kids
2012 far exceeded my expectations and I have to say my goals are a lot different this year. Last year I wanted to be a sponsored athlete and was driven by this goal. I thought I had it all figured out. I would compete, get recognized and hopefully accomplish my goal of being sponsored. I haven’t shared this yet, but I won’t be competing again. Although I still love fitness my goals are going in a different direction. What that is I’m not sure of yet. I am a very organized and plan almost everything. This year I don’t have that ultimate plan and its been hard. So that’s were am at, I hope it makes sense. Although I am still trying to figure it all out I have decided to do a 30 for 30, I am turning 30 in February and have 30 things I would like to do this Year.

oh I LOVE all these!! I had a 30 goal too 😉
It was see 30 countries by 30 and we were actually in Thailand last December! sweet!!
I think that its ok to give up goals you once had as more information becomes available.
I used to want to “turn pro” in the competition scene…
and I learned how political and how much BS went on behind the scenes (luckily, you learned after one show)
I spent 3 years and probably well over $10k to learn it, man I wish I had that money now to pay off my student loans!! Damn (this years goal) oh… and not to mention, my health has been EFFED for the last 3 years!
I’d say, with a list like that, it looks like your goals and priorities are to just LIVE. Which I think is AMAZING! Looks like about 30 goals all packed into one year!
Have a great time and I love this list of 30 because THAT stuff is what matters– LIVING
Turning pro, getting a mag cover, being a “famous” fitness celeb.. its not. Its a facade
You’re the real thing, a real person, and people will be drawn to that and drawn to YOU for you, not the fitness persona you are 😉
Keep it up girl!
Thank you so much Danny-J that means a lot. I loved how when I met you last year you really kept it real with me and that stuck with me. It really opened up my eyes to see everything in the business not just the glamour. You will have to tell me your favorite things in Thailand, I’m excited. And your right I guess this year my goal is to LIVE it up:)
I want to do a color and mud run as well!! They look like soo much fun!
Yes I am excited for these races:)
Love these Val!!!! If you come visit I can help you cross off #5, 7,9,10,12, 22, 26, 30!!! LOL There is a wellness expo in La mid February 🙂 We can stay up all night, watch the sunrise, it would be an unexpected trip, go wine tasting and hit an Indian Casino all in my town, then take you shooting while we are all liquored up!!!! JK 🙂 ) (well kind of!)
You are an amazing inspiration, Danny Is 100% right you are REAL!!!! That is what I absolutely love about you!!!
